Last Night the Foundation ALAS (Am?rica Latina en Acci?n Solidaria) launched at the National Theater in Panama with the
commitment of lots of Artists and companies that want to stop the hunger in children.
"We are commited to do something important for Latin America" said the event Moderator (singer) "Miguel Bose",every 90 seconds a child
dies in Latin america just because he was born poor.
Nobel award "Gabriel Garcia Marquez will be the president of this Foundation which will start running on january 2007.

Shakira had a busy schedule as Unicef's good will ambassador, She started by visiting Unicef's building in El Salvador to meet the
people that work at that institution, and to spend some time with 5 kids who were invited by UNICEF. Later Shakira went to "El palacio de los deportes" where 8000 kids got together
for the launch of the campaign " Marca la diferencia sin ser indiferente".
Shakira and vicepresident Ana Vilma de Escobar were in charged of launching this campaign. Shakira asked parents to leave Violence on the side when educating their kids, and told the kids that they have to believe there is
hope for a better world. She also said , She understood their situation because in Colombia the kids are also living in a violent environment.

were off the hook, about 12 of us from the NY Fan Club were able to go to the show and we had and awsome time, specially being there to see Shaki receive those Grammys

Shakira, who is playing a series of concerts in Mexico, won best album for Oral Fixation Volume 2, song of the year in Spanish for "Las caderas no mienten" and song in the year in English for "Hips Don't Lie," best video and a special award for song writing in her song "Dia de enero."

Shakira Rocked New York at Madison square Garden for the last 2 Nights, Shaki and her band were amazing during the whole show and kept the Fans jumping, singing and dancing.
The first night we have to get on top of our seats and that's how we spent most of that concert, She had Alejandro Sanz as a surprise when performing "La Tortura", She also sang "Happy Birthday" along with the fans for her Daddy William mebarak.
Last nite was great,The best time ever! Shakira and her Management invited 10 of the best Shakira New York fan club members to be part on this second concert, we did not know where we were seating until a minute before the show, and to our surprise we were right
at the front, we all got front row so this made this concert really special because for the first time this year we were able to be so close to her and sing along with her during the whole concert, Thank you Shakira,aito and Nmg for the wonderful present you gave us, this was a night to remember it will be forever in our hearts!
It was also great getting together with the other fans, we went out and had fun, one of our members who visited NY for the first time had the chance to play guitar and sing some Shakira songs for us in an Irish pub, everyone loved him.. Ivan u Rock!

The Vmas took place on New York at the Radio City Music Hall, there were tons of people waiting outside to see the celebrities walk the red carpet where Shaki talked with MTv.
The show started with a performance by Justin Timberlake which was ok, later Shakira performed and what a performance that was, She was amazing with her "Hips don't lie"
hit with a Touch of Bollywood style, she also had some back up dancers. Unfortunately fans did not vote enough and She ended up only receiving one Moon man for best Choreography.
the rest of the show was ok..the only other good performance were by Christina Aguilera and Beyonce.
Shakira so deserved these awards, maybe fans should try a bit harder next time.

Yesterday they talked on the news about two people that got hit by the USB that transports Shakira, but that was not what happened.
Today Escandalo TV cleared this out, they said they received a letter from the stadium where this happened and they were told
the fan and the security guard bumped their heads together causing them to fall on the floor.

"Hips Don't Lie" by Shakira featuring Wyclef Jean became the most played song in pop radio history last week according to Nielsen Broadcast Data Systems. The song was played more times in one week beating out the previous record by Gwen Stefani's "Hollaback Girl" made in the week ending 6/5/05. Shakira's song's total of 9,657 times played on the radio, broke Stefani's previous record of 9,582. This is the song's 4th week atop the chart. She has been rehearsing in el Pabellon #4 of the Feria Alberga since last week, She has a big stage with a nice round light stracture on top, and a Giant Screen behind the stage.
She rehearses about 5 hours a day, and tries to take care of every detail, design, scene, Lights on the stage.

All the misunderstandings about the controversy of "Hips don't lie" has come to an end.
Lafranco Music said that Omar Alfanno (Author of the song "Amores como el Nuestro") gave permission so that they could use part of
the song on Shakira's new song, and also they said "As editors we are very pleased with Shakira and wyclef's interpretation"
Lafranco Music said that Sony BMG did ask for the permission of the Song "Amores como el Nuestro" and we have 3 things to clear:
1-The song "Amores como el Nuestro" was composed lyrics and music 100% by Omar Alfanno, and his name appears on the CD as co-writer
of the song "Hips don't lie" next to Shakira, Wyclef Jean, Jerry Duplessis y Latavia Parker.
2-According to the american copyright Law, nor Shakira, nor her record company,nor her editor need to ask permission to "Jerry Rivera"(singer) or Ramon Sanchez, so that She could use the song.
Sony BMG has to ask permission only to Lafranco Music which is located in MIami.
3-Sony BMG did ask for the permission with all the law rights so that they could use the song "Amores como el nuestro"
which can be heard at the start, the middle and the end of the song "Hips don't lie". and we are very pleased with what She accomplished.

Shakira went from The plaza after recording the Today show to her Press conference that took place in the Supper Club,
Shakira is getting ready for her "Oral Fixation" world tour - and she's taking Wyclef Jean with her for all 23 U.S. shows.
"I feel honored he's gonna do this with me," the 29-year-old Colombian pop star said at a press conference Friday, one day after winning six Billboard Latin Music Awards.
"I admire him so much! He's a great artist and will be a big asset for the show," she said.
The world tour will begin June 22 in Madrid, Spain, and will travel in October to Latin America, where the crossover star will sing mostly in Spanish.
The U.S. leg of the tour will open Aug. 9 in El Paso, Texas, and will include performances in New York, Miami and Los Angeles.
During the U.S. tour, Verizon Wireless subscribers will be able to use their cell phones to receive video clips and vote for their favorite songs.
"It's gonna be really exciting to see my fans interact," she said. "They'll get videos, messages from me, it's interesting."
Shakira will sing her best-known songs in both Spanish and English for her U.S. audiences.
"It will be balanced," she said. "The Anglo public will enjoy it as much as the Latin fans that have followed me over the years."
She also described progress in her plans for a benefit concert to help Latin American children escape poverty. The singer said she's working with Juanes, Alejandro Sanz and Miguel Bose, with the idea of holding the concert late next year at a location to be determined.
"Besides collecting funds we want to raise consciousness about the problems that children face in Latin America, where every second a child dies for completely avoidable causes," she said

Pop songstress Shakira won six awards and reggaeton pacesetter Daddy Yankee took home three at the Billboard Latin Music Awards on Thursday night.
Shakira’s album “Fijacion Oral Vol. 1” (Oral Fixation Vol. 1), which was released in both Spanish and English, won female Latin pop album of the year. The album’s top song, a sexy duet with Spanish singer Alejandro Sanz called “La Tortura” (The Torture), won four other awards, including hot Latin song of the year.
The Colombian crossover star’s voice was nearly drowned out by the cheering audience when she received the award for female Latin pop album.
“Wow. Thank you. This is for all of you, my fans, who have been accompanying me, understanding and protecting me all these years,” she said.
Later, Shakira, wearing a sparkling blue bikini top and red-and-white skirt, unleashed her trademark hip-wiggle as she danced and sang alongside Wyclef Jean on their pulsing collaboration “Hips Don’t Lie.”

in Altos de Cazucá,south of Bogota. The children waited for hours but they received her with opened arms.

The UNITE FOR CHILDREN UNITE AGAINST AIDS campaign got a huge boost today with the release of a new public service announcement by international pop star Shakira.
In the 30-second spot, the Grammy-winning singer talks about the devastating impact HIV/AIDS can have on a child’s education.
“Millions of children are missing an education,” Shakira says in the PSA. “Missing their teachers who have died from the disease. Missing from class as they stay home to care for their dying mothers and fathers.”
Appointed by UNICEF in 2003, Shakira’s main commitment as a Goodwill Ambassador has been education.
“I’m a firm believer,” she asserts, “that education is the most efficient tool we have to make people aware and make our children aware, and to protect them from the scourge of the century, which is AIDS.”

Singer Marc Anthony and actor Andy Garcia will receive special recognition at the ALMA Awards, the National Council of La Raza announced Tuesday.
The organization created the ALMA Awards in 1995 to promote positive images of Hispanics in entertainment. Awards will be presented in 15 categories at a ceremony May 7 at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.

UNITED NATIONS - Latin pop star Shakira and Czech supermodel Karolina Kurkova received awards Monday for their humanitarian work and then watched a fashion show featuring clothes partly made by women trying to escape poverty in developing countries.

More than 400 fans and fashionistas joined VIP guests for the two events and a panel on Poverty, Women and Human Rights. It focused on the success of microcredit loans, which hundreds of millions of women have used to start businesses, and the need to help the 1 billion people who still live on $1 a day or less.
"Let's not forget at the end of this day when we all go home, 960 children will have died in Latin America," Shakira said after accepting her award for starting a charitable foundation, Barefoot, to help children in her native Colombia escape violence.
"As part of a generation that has so many ideas and technologies and things that my parents' generation didn't have access to ... let's take advantage of this historical opportunity we have within reach to make this world a better place," the five-time Grammy award winner said.
The 21-year-old Kurkova was honored for working for the welfare of children through organizations such as "The Beautiful Life Fund" and "Free Arts."
Other winners who showed up to accept their awards — a Spanish contemporary sculpture — included Ela Bhatt, founder of the SEWA Cooperative Bank in India which has provided microcredit loans to 800,000 women; former Spanish Red Cross president Cristina Macaya; Brazilian writer Nelida Pinon; and Consuelo Ciscar, who has promoted cultural and arts programs in Valencia, Spain.
There was disappointment in the crowd that several famous winners sent representatives to collect their awards — including actress
Angelina Jolie, Queen Rania of Jordan, Sen.
Hillary Clinton, and Kerry Kennedy, who founded a human rights center named after her late father, Robert F. Kennedy.
The two institutions to receive awards were the Washington-based nonprofit, Finca International, which promotes microfinance, and the Spain's Porcelanosa Group, one of the world's leading tile and bathroom and kitchen manufacturers.
The nonprofit organization Women Together, which is currently concentrating on providing small loans so low income women can produce textiles, sponsored the awards and the fashion show. The high-fashion clothes on display were made in part by women from Colombia, Panama, India, Uruguay, Bangladesh, Mexico, Morocco, Peru and Salvador de Bahia in Brazil.

Roger Federer, the Swiss world number one tennis player, has been appointed Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Children's Fund (Unicef).
He joins the ranks of footballer David Beckham, pop singer Shakira and screen stars Sir Roger Moore and Whoopie Goldberg.
Speaking at Unicef headquarters in New York on Monday, Federer said he felt honoured to be part of efforts to help children across the world who don't have the basic means to survive.
"It is our responsibility to connect the real world beyond our sport, to use our fortune to make a difference in the lives of those who most need it," he said.
The winner of seven Grand Slam titles said he had been fortunate in his life to be able to pursue what he liked to do most ? playing tennis since the age of six.
On Sunday Federer clocked up his 37th ATP title, winning the final against Ivan Ljubicic at Key Biscayne, Florida

SHAKIRA and THE FUGEES star WYCLEF JEAN are 'starving' themselves to see who can look the fittest in their new video.
The couple have teamed up on new Latino reggae track HIPS DON'T LIE and now they're planning to shoot the accompanying video in an undisclosed tropical location.
But, after hearing how Shakira is shaping up to look her best in the promo, Jean insists he needs to take drastic steps to match her in the video.
He explains, "We're shooting the video on Tuesday (21FEB06) and, the last thing I heard, Shakira has been on a seven-day diet - so I'm not eating for seven days.
"I'm starving myself too, and I'm hungry!"
